Grandma Mary had just gotten done helping her neighbor's goat birth its kid, so they let her bring one of the older goats over for us to play with before we started painting.
She also brought out Mr. Fuzzy Pants, the hamster, which Winston loved and kissed and squeezed so much that Daddy worried they might have to change his name to Mr. Dead Pants.
There were also a couple stray dogs and cats roaming the yard, to make it even more like a real life petting-zoo.
It's huge inside, and when it's all finished it will have a tile floor, book shelves, shutters and an air conditioner!
The kids got to choose the paint colors, so they picked green and orange for the front...
We didn't finish the back, but it will be purple and yellow.
It's so bright and fun!
Then, Grandpa Dan showed them a big pile of roly-poly potato bugs he'd saved up for them under a pot of flowers, and there just happened to be a worm hiding under there too.
And last but not least, we had lunch and broke open 2 pinatas full of fruit snacks.
The missionaries happened to be over for lunch and the poor Elders got whacked with the bat more than once.
It was a fun-filled, entertaining trip to Grandma's house!
They play on it every chance they get! Winston loves the slides, and Stanton and Noelle can't get enough of the swings.
Our cousins are in town, so Daddy and Grandpa took the kids for a swim.
They had a great time! Stanton was very excited to tell me that Grandpa told him to put his arm up like a Sea World trainer and then Daddy would jump out of the water like a whale and try to eat his pretend fish.
Then they ended the night with another exciting appearance from Grandpa as Darth Vader.
Stanton hears Darth Vader's breathing from down the hall and starts giggling and screaming and runs to get his lightsaber.
It's so magical for him! Cousin Zachary was pretty into it too!
I'm so thankful for family! It makes me so happy that my kids will have a million memories with their grandparents, especially since we have the opportunity to live with them and run a muck in their house everyday!
I'm glad they will remember Grandma making them eggs and toast in the morning that they much prefer over Mommy's, or watching them in the afternoon and making them graham crackers with icing while I'm tutoring, or giving them haircuts in the backyard.
Or Grandpa sharing his Muscle Milk with Winston in the morning and talking to the kids about all sorts of funny things and reading them poems while they eat their breakfast, or letting them push his car out of the garage when he leaves for work.
I remember looking forward to eating an apple everytime I went to my Grandma Mae's house, or going garage saling with her, or putting on plays and dance recitals for her in her basement. It makes me smile to think about it.
I'm so happy my kids will have those types of memories too!

Your kiddos will have fantastic memories of special times with grannies & granddads . I remember my nanna telling zillions of stories about her youth and growing up, wish I had written them down or taped them somehow but it was a LONG time ago and personal tape decks were a rarity to say the least and my handwriting as a kid was well .... a kids ;-)
how cute! i love that darth vader makes random surprise visits. thats is seriously awesome! :)
